- Alpha GPC: Alpha-glycerophosphocholine (alpha-GPC or α-GPC) is a cholinergic compound that is used for cognitive-enhancement. One 2021 study showed an increased effect on motivation of healthy subjects. It appears to also support cellular membranes, and may help prevent cognitive decline. In athletes, Alpha-GPC supplementation prevents exercise-induced reductions in choline levels, while increasing exercise performance and growth hormone secretion.
- Lion’s Mane: Often referred to as “the smart mushroom” because of its ability to improve memory, focus, and clarity. This mushroom’s potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties increase blood flow to the brain, leading to improved cognitive performance and a reduction of brain fog.
- L-tyrosine: L-Tyrosine is an amino acid precursor of dopamine and norepinephrine. These neurotransmitters are needed for mental alertness, controlling anxiety, blood pressure, activity awareness and the secretion of other hormones that are vital to maintaining a healthy mood. Catecholamines such as these are depleted under stressful conditions, which can compromise cognitive function.
- L-theanine and Caffeine: Caffeine and L-theanine are natural compounds found primarily in tea and coffee, respectively. The combination has shown improvement in short-term sustained attention and overall cognition.
